Run by first-time restaurateur and chef Samantha Biderman, Aspetta (meaning "wait" in Italian) serves typical Italian meals -- panini, pastas and desserts. Biderman went to chef school in Florence four years ago where she learned to cook authentic Italian from the different regions of Italy. Biderman modeled the cafe (everything down to the white Ikea furniture) after her favourite restaurant in Florence, steps from where she was living.
The space is decorated with paintings of Toronto by Finnish-born, Toronto-based artist Sami Suomalainen as well as some Hendrix images made by her sister. Menu items include Italian takeout and eat-in items like panini, panzarotti, daily pastas, and a dolci menu.
